Ideally I'd give all of my fonts away for free. Realistically that doesn't pay the bills. So in 2019 I founded Public Type Works, a collection of prospective type designs from foundries around the world, seeking a little bit of funding to release open source fonts. It's like Kickstarter meets Future Fonts meets Github. Everyone wins from this model, in my opinion, and 100% of the funds go straight to the designer(s). Will it succeed? Only time will tell. I have two fonts listed for Etcetera Type Company and am excited to see where it goes.
I designed and developed this whole thing while my infant napped, which is a feat to say the least.
